Raspberries - Little Red Powerhouses
Monday, March 19th, 2007
Raspberries are currently in season, so enjoy them while you can! They’re wonderful additions to any breakfast and pack a strong anti-oxidant punch. Generally pretty hard to find, they’ve been available in abundant amounts the past couple of weeks, so you should definitely take advantage.
Just one cup of raspberries is only sixty calories and provides 51% of the recommended daily amount of vitamin C and 33% of the daily recommended value of dietary fiber. Raspberries also prevent damage to cells from free radicals. Alongside dark chocolate, they also make an easy and quick dessert when entertaining. And did I mention that they’re absolutely delicious?
I’ve been eating them every morning with blueberries (a Superfood), yogurt (another Superfood!) and granola. Breakfast really doesn’t get any better than that!
